Canada's Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Showdown Against Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Astros securing the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team advanced to their initial World Series since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the final Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Down 3-1, outfielder George Springer hit a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, who are the current crown, in the anticipated Fall Classic.

"I'm just so happy for our team, our city, the nation," commented Springer, a key player of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."

Springer has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, placing him third all-time behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another person anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment besides Springer with his October magic," remarked manager John Schneider.

Seattle, despite leading the early in the series, continue to be the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Wilson said "there's no question that it's going to sting" after his team's loss at their home ballpark, but applauded their performance in the campaign.

"This is a unique group. It's a shame that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he continued.

Toronto secured the World Series on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
